Baji Association is organising a Tuishou seminar to introduce the principles of Tuishou under the guidance of Master Lü Baochun. The seminar will take place in Arabian nuorisotalo on the 5th and 12th of October 2025.
WHY TUISHOU?
Tuishou, or push hands, is an exercise in which the fundamentals of movement are explored with a partner. It is suitable for a wide range of practitioners of oriental arts, regardless of tradition. This seminar is also suitable to those who have no previous experience on push hands or whose interest is not in martial arts. Master Lü’s principles in push hands is that these techniques can be practised from understanding and internalising the basics all the way to discovering, mastering and introducing inner movement. The aim is to learn high level control of yourself through contact with your partner. The seminar is thus not a competition to win your partner, but a practice method to help each other to find that control inside. The seminar is structured according to the student so that everyone can participate, regardless of their starting level.
Under Master Lü’s guidance, this seminar is sure to have something to offer for everyone, whether you are an experienced practitioner or a newcomer! So please join us, and bring a friend!

Baji Association organized a combined training and holiday trip to China in June 2025 under the leadership of Master Lü Baochun. Master Lü considered the trip a success because participants were satisfied—and they truly were! The trip had a great atmosphere: the travelers enjoyed seeing new places and spending time with their training companions. According to the master, the goal of the trip—to show the Chinese that people elsewhere also know how to train—was realized superbly.
The journey began in Guangzhou. The party included Master Lü’s martial brother Tian Zhang Shan, his student Liu Yuan Min, master Lü’s wife Qin Lanju, as well as members of Baji Ry from Finland, and friends of the association from Sweden and Macao. On the very first day, local practitioners of taiji and other kung fu styles were training in a park next to our accommodation, and association members trained alongside them. In Guangzhou, we explored both the traditional and modern sides of the city, dining on everything from street food delights to upscale Michelin-starred restaurants. However, most agreed that the best meals were at a street kitchen on the corner of our lodging, where we enjoyed skewers every evening, chatting by the roadside and sipping beer.
The next stage of the trip was Guilin, where the group spent a week. They held training sessions every morning and evening, exploring the city and its surroundings in between. The master’s student Liu also led some of the sessions. A particularly memorable experience was a river cruise through Guilin’s exceptionally dramatic karst landscape.
It was also, in Master Lü’s opinion, the most unforgettable tourist experience of the trip. As a funny memory, he recalls how when a sudden downpour struck the cruise guests dashed between the ship’s interior and the deck, trying on one hand to stay dry and on the other to take in the views. In the end, the mist rising around the mountains won out, and getting soaked on deck was worth it for the breathtaking scenery. The trip culminated in Master Lü’s birthday celebration, where he particularly cherished the birthday song sung in five languages.
After Guangzhou, the group dispersed. Master Lü returned to Beijing. Part of the group moved back to Hong Kong, where they trained kung fu under Jeran (YouTube/Instagram: @kungfuronin). Many found this opportunity especially interesting, as they learned new exercises from the skilled young kung fu teacher. Some students brought exercises learned from Jeran back to Finland as souvenirs, which they have since incorporated into their own training regimens.

Master Lü Baochun’s 11th Easter Camp follows the 5 Steps of Taiji -program and the training proceeds from external practice gradually into internal practice of Taiji. The Easter Camp is a unique opportunity to all Taiji-practitioners to benefit from master Lü’s transmission of ancient teachings and the principles of internal Taiji in a comprehensible and executable form. Master Lü’s 5 Steps of Taiji advances from mastering the external structure and movement step by step into the discovery of internal movement and gaining control of it.
The camp will have two training groups: foundation and advanced. We will start training on Friday together as one group and focus on examining the aspects of the two first steps, the basic building blocks of all Taiji training, posture and movement. Saturday onward one of master Lü’s most advanced students in Taiji will teach the foundation group by continuing integrating posture and movement as a solid base in form training and free movement. When finding continuous flow of movement and internal connection, the foundation group can also proceed to the next level of the program, integrating breathing & energy into training. The advanced group will start on Saturday with master Lü by examining breathing and energy movement in detail. When a solid base for external and internal training has been found, the advanced group will continue the journey into the mind-step, which will be the main focus of this year’s advanced camp. At the end of the camp we will review all the steps as one group.
The Easter Camp is open to all Taiji practitioners, regardless of training level, style or tradition. Foundation group is intended for everyone, from beginner to advanced, teaching in Finnish & English. The advanced group is intended for Taiji practitioners who have a solid base of external practice and are ready to step into internal training, taught in English. This camp is not about learning the external form or correcting it, but it is about the essence of your Taiji-training. In the classes we will use 2 first parts of the traditional Yang style -form, two parts of Chen-style Yi Lu-form and Qigong for training. It is not essential to know these forms, and if you like you can also use your own form in training.
Master Lü Baochun is a living legend of traditional Chinese martial arts, who has trained martial arts his whole life and Taiji for over 40 years. Master Lü´s fluent English and knowledge of internal power, both his meditative side and his fighting ability will guarantee the participants a huge leap forward in their own practice. Master Lü emphasizes the importance of questions from students and will give personal assistance to all students. Joona Sillanpää has studied and trained Taiji for over 20 years as a student of master Lü. Joona is also teaching Taiji at Baji Association’s weekly Taiji- courses. Joona trains Qigong, both Yang and Chen style Taiji and has achieved a high level of knowledge of the external and internal principles of Taiji.
A detailed timetable can be found at the end. We will start the mornings with 1h Qigong exercise as one group. Personal questions and discussions about training and philosophy are recommended. If the weather is fine, we will also train outside. Sunday night we will have an evening party and sauna by the lake.
The price includes 25h of training, accommodation, meals (3 x breakfast, 4 x lunch, 3 x dinner, 3 x evening snack), evening party & sauna on Sunday and a Baji thermos bottle. Accommodation is in single/double rooms, budget/hotel-standard options. It is possible to attend the camp without accommodation (meals reduced – Fri: dinner, Sat and Sun: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Mon: no meals).
Carpools will be arranged from Helsinki center, harbours and airport. If you are travelling from abroad, we can help you with accommodations and transportation and other info.

It’s time to give a more in depth explanation of our trip together to China in the summer of 2025:
The trip takes place from 9th to the 20th of June 2025
The trip is divided into two locations: 9.-12.6 Guangzhou 12.6-19.6 Guilin
19.6 we return to Guangzhou to celebrate master Lü’s birthday together
20.6 has been reserved for leaving – master Lü will go back to Beijing and the rest of us are free to continue on our way as we see fit
The maximum number of participants we can accept is 20 persons – sign-up soon and reserve your spot!
Sign-up latest by 2nd of April 2025 –> sign-up has closed, the group is full.
The structure of the trip includes switching between tourism and training. Our daily schedule on the trip is:
Breakfast together
Training until lunch
Lunch together
The day’s tourist attraction (together or on your own)
Dinner together
Evening training for those who have the stamina
Master Lü will act both as our tour guide and teacher during this trip. Baji Association is not a travel advisory and will not be responsible for the trip. This means you are free to take a moment for yourself and move about by yourself or in smaller groups whenever outside of training. Participation does not require previous association or skills in martial arts – it’s enough that you want to come along and are willing to practise during the trip. We recommend packing training clothes on the trip, such as shorts, T-shirts, sneakers, etc.
You’re free to join us and leave whenever you see fit (e.g. arrive later, leave earlier, join us for Guangzhou but not Guilin, or only for Guilin, etc). We will let those of you who have signed up and been accepted to the trip know where will master Lü be staying and when. Based on this, you can customise your trip in accordance to your needs.
You will pay for your own flights, hotel and daily expenses (local travel and dining). Please book a cancellable hotel if you do, as master Lü will likely book our hotels for us as soon as we know who is going. We estimate that a suitable amount to manage the trip would be approximately 1500 euros (incl. hotels). Throughout the trip, master Lü will collect money from everyone for our dinner, travel and tourist attraction fees together. Please note that while master Lü will not be taking payments from his teaching on this trip, he will collect money for his hotels and dinner from us as a form of compensation for his time. Baji Association will also collect money from everyone for master Lü’s birthday present during the trip. This is entirely voluntary and you can participate in this with as small or as big of a contribution as you see fit. You can also decline to participate with no repercussions.
Please latest sign-up by 2.4.2025. To those who have signed up we will send a more detailed information packet about our schedule, as well as request more information about your flights and accommodations. Master Lü has promised to arrange our stay in Guilin. We will let everyone know if the 20 spots have been filled and we are no longer accepting more participants before the deadline.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch through baji[at]baji.info!
The autumn season is already halfway over. The Tuishou seminar was such a hit that we will probably organize another one in the spring! In anticipation of the spring season starting on the 7th January 2025, we have some winter activities for our kung fu family:
The Baji Association’s autumn meeting will take place on 14.12.2024 at 16:00 at Robert’s Coffee in Sähkötalo; an official invite with the meeting plan will be published closer to the event. Afterwards, we will move downstairs to restaurant Osaka Sushi for our annual Christmas party at 18:00. We have reserved our own cabinet in Osaka Sushi – pay your buffet when you come in (22,90€), and order your drinks from the bar. Don’t forget to sign-up so we know we have enough space!
There have been inquiries about our trip to China. Our time together in China is scheduled for next summer from the 9th to 20th of June 2025. More detailed information about the arrangements for the trip inclusive of signing up will be published sometime in January 2025.
Wishing you inner light, The Board of Baji Association
