The year is starting out great, as the training season starts on Tuesday 7.1.2025 according to the normal weekly schedule. Please remember to sign-up after your first free lesson!
On Wednesday 29.1.2025 we will celebrate Chinese New Year with open doors training. On that day at Alppiharju (Åshöjdens) school between 18-21, you can come and try weapons from 18-19 and from 19-20 Baji, Xingyi and Bagua. If there are requests for other styles, they can also be considered. The event is open to all and you can should invite your friends to join!
Upcoming events for the spring season include our traditional Easter camp and weekend seminars, the dates of which will be announced later.
There are still places available for the China trip from the 9th to the 20th of June 2025, so there is still time to register. More details about the trip can be found on our website.
It’s time to give a more in depth explanation of our trip together to China in the summer of 2025:
The trip takes place from 9th to the 20th of June 2025
The trip is divided into two locations: 9.-12.6 Guangzhou 12.6-19.6 Guilin
19.6 we return to Guangzhou to celebrate master Lü’s birthday together
20.6 has been reserved for leaving – master Lü will go back to Beijing and the rest of us are free to continue on our way as we see fit
The maximum number of participants we can accept is 20 persons – sign-up soon and reserve your spot!
Sign-up latest by 2nd of April 2025 –> sign-up has closed, the group is full.
The structure of the trip includes switching between tourism and training. Our daily schedule on the trip is:
Breakfast together
Training until lunch
Lunch together
The day’s tourist attraction (together or on your own)
Dinner together
Evening training for those who have the stamina
Master Lü will act both as our tour guide and teacher during this trip. Baji Association is not a travel advisory and will not be responsible for the trip. This means you are free to take a moment for yourself and move about by yourself or in smaller groups whenever outside of training. Participation does not require previous association or skills in martial arts – it’s enough that you want to come along and are willing to practise during the trip. We recommend packing training clothes on the trip, such as shorts, T-shirts, sneakers, etc.
You’re free to join us and leave whenever you see fit (e.g. arrive later, leave earlier, join us for Guangzhou but not Guilin, or only for Guilin, etc). We will let those of you who have signed up and been accepted to the trip know where will master Lü be staying and when. Based on this, you can customise your trip in accordance to your needs.
You will pay for your own flights, hotel and daily expenses (local travel and dining). Please book a cancellable hotel if you do, as master Lü will likely book our hotels for us as soon as we know who is going. We estimate that a suitable amount to manage the trip would be approximately 1500 euros (incl. hotels). Throughout the trip, master Lü will collect money from everyone for our dinner, travel and tourist attraction fees together. Please note that while master Lü will not be taking payments from his teaching on this trip, he will collect money for his hotels and dinner from us as a form of compensation for his time. Baji Association will also collect money from everyone for master Lü’s birthday present during the trip. This is entirely voluntary and you can participate in this with as small or as big of a contribution as you see fit. You can also decline to participate with no repercussions.
Please latest sign-up by 2.4.2025. To those who have signed up we will send a more detailed information packet about our schedule, as well as request more information about your flights and accommodations. Master Lü has promised to arrange our stay in Guilin. We will let everyone know if the 20 spots have been filled and we are no longer accepting more participants before the deadline.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch through baji[at]baji.info!
In 2025 it is finally time to return to the roots of gong fu into China! All of those who have been before can regale you with tales of how worthwhile and legendary these trips always are, so mark the dates into your calendar and start saving up! The trip takes place between 9th to the 20th of June 2025. The trip is open to all regardless of your skill level – if you wish to learn from master Lü, you are welcome!
A more detailed travel plan will be available closer to our departure, but for now you need to know:
Our trip begins from Hong Kong. We will stay in Hong Kong for one night, and move onto Guangzhou by train.
Hong Kong does not require a visa, but China proper (Guangzhou & Guilin) does – remember to apply for a visa before the trip! (we’ll give out more detailed instructions on this as well closer to the trip).
From Guangzhou we will move on into Guilin, which according to master Lü “everyone should visit once in their life.” From Guilin we’ll move back to Guangzhou and from there to Hong Kong and fly home.
Everyone needs to book and purchase their own flights & hotels. You may join and leave the trip as best suits your schedule (earlier, in the middle, or near the end, etc). We’ll give out the dates and places of master Lü’s hotels when available. Based on his hotel reservations, you can aim to either have the same hotel, a nearby one, or join us later on in the trip.
During the trip, master Lü will occasionally collect money from everyone for our collective train trips, meals & sightseeing payments as a group. Because of this, we recommend you reserve a lot of local cash on hand (note; Hong Kong & China proper use different currencies).
The trip consists of interchanging training & tourism days. During training days we usually have training in the mornings, during lunches and in the evenings. On tourism days we either tour sights together as a group or on our own – more information on this later as well.
We are also in discussion of the possibility to meet local martial artists or a master. We will give you more info on this when we have it.
In short:
9.-20.6.2025 Hong Kong – Guangzhou – Guilin – Guangzhou (+ flight home from Hong Kong)
Book your own flights & hotels. We will let you know where & when master Lü is staying so you can book yours accordingly
Get a visa for China proper
We’d recommend saving up approximately 1500 – 2000 euros for the trip (inclusive of your stay) + flights on top
Reserve a lot of cash for the trip, as master Lü will collect it for payments as a group for dinners, trips & sightseeing.
Oh boy! Anyone else struck with travel fever? Because us announcers certainly are! We will give out a more detailed travel plan & guidance once we have it, but in the mean time, if you have any questions about the trip, you can email your questions to baji [ at ] baji.info .
